colliding innovation

The C-Tribe Innovation Festival is a 5-day event combining technology-driven content that aims to bring together the people and companies redefining the world as we know it — now and in the future.

We’re an organization that’s looking to build resilient communities through a blend of celebrating commerce, culture, and creativity. We’re pushing the boundaries of connections and communication, and opening up the eyes and minds of a global village by building creative experiences that help underrepresented underestimated communities thrive.

We are currently collaborating on the fourth C-Tribe Festival that will include an array of intimate talks, wellness classes, gourmet food, creative showcases, and unique experiences. This will transform the northernmost metropolitan city into an internationally-acclaimed destination for a festival, and we will thereby continue to grow and strengthen the vibrancy of our community.

  • Tech developers are trying to solve problems that range from smartwatches that detect heart attacks, to better patient scheduling and data-entry software. We are also seeing an increase in decentralized health care which can create major challenges (and opportunities) for health care provisions. Consumer-led demand for patient self-care is driving a new generation of innovative technologies. Learn from the players leading the way and what product/service offerings will have an impact in this space. The Deep-Dive Tracks give us an opportunity to learn from experts in emerging sectors. The individual tracks have a duration of three hours and begin with two industry presentations and finish off with a panel series featuring local and international thought-leaders. Participating in the Deep Dive Tracks assists with formulating big ideas and building relationships with like-minded individuals.

  • DESCRIPTION WHAT IS THE BUSINESS OF CANNABIS DEEP-DIVE TRACK? Since President Richard Nixon classified marijuana as a schedule 1 illegal drug in the 70’s it has brought along a negative stigma that has been cultivated primarily for political gain and the segregation of communities. Cannabis shows a lucrative and deep history which influences our arts, culture, literature, and very soon, the next boom for (legal) commerce in Canada. The medicinal properties of cannabis have been well known and have proved to be an alternative to some of the most common ailments seen today. However, in order for cannabis to be looked at through a positive lens, nationwide, we must be willing to address the stigmas that has plagued the usage of the drug for so long. Healthy dialogue will be the first step in overcoming more than half-a-century of conviction, persecution, and the ostracism around usage of the plant. 9:00 AM - 10 AM - The Cannabusiness Future in Canada From crop to finished product, cannabis is opening up a world of challenges and possibilities in the market. As a flood of new products hit store shelves while regulators race to catch up, everyone from entrepreneurs to big box companies are left to forge their own path. This panel of explorers represents top cannabis makers, scientists, end users and others across the supply chain working to perfect the quality and consistency behind the scenes. They will share insights and lessons learned as they navigate the rapidly changing landscape in hopes of bringing world-class cannabis to market.

  • Children starting school today will enter the labor market and start voting in the 2030s. It is very difficult to know what types of jobs, and indeed what type of world, they are being prepared for. Needless to say, it’s an ongoing debate with conflicting information from various experts. It leaves plenty of room for interpretation around what impact automation technology like artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics will have on jobs, skills, and wages. What does this mean for our educational institutions or for parents of newborns keen on setting their children up for success? It’s evident that in order for people to keep up, adapt, and work alongside effectively with highly capable machines, they will require a very different set of skills. How do we go about grooming the leaders of the next generation and what will it take to deploy a workforce of highly-capable and purpose-driven members of society? The C-Tribe Future of Work Deep-Dive Track, co-created by RBC Future Launch, is a curated day of insight and inspiration, as we explore what is needed by our leaders where diversity, mobility, transparency, and experience are not only embraced, but encouraged.

  • Diversity comes in many forms: gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, culture, socioeconomic background, etc. All of these contribute to an individual’s unique experience of the world.Sometimes we need to take a step back and examine the presence of diversity in our own life. How diverse is your school? Neighborhood? Place of work? Group of friends? Is diversity something we should strive for in all aspects of our lives? Together, our differences make a strong, beautiful, world community. Even in the face of intolerance, discrimination, and violence, we must not forget to spread the word about the importance of diversity and to respond to that violence with a love and a celebration of our differences. This track will explore how we can deepen our understanding for diversity and inclusion even more.

These Venture Capitalists provide capital to start-up ventures that do not have access to equities markets and they accept the risk of the start-up firm but command a high return of their success.
