Colliding Creativity and Diversity, at Edmonton’s C-Afrofuturism Festival

The C-Afrofuturism Festival & Conference re-imagines the vision of the future through the lens of the African diaspora
Edmonton, Canada, July 20th, 2022 – Creativity and Black culture will be on full display at this year’s C-Afrofuturism Festival & Conference: an event that is part of the C-Tribe Festival and aims to open the hearts, eyes, and minds of a global community by building forward-thinking and creative experiences led by racialized people. C-Tribe is partnering with talented entrepreneurs, community leaders, scientists, artists and many more in this hybrid, in-person and virtual celebration.
In its forthcoming year, the C-Afrofuturism is meant to demonstrate the community’s ability to come together in support of more equitable opportunities for underrepresented groups in creative & entrepreneurially-driven industries like technology, fashion, gaming, and music. This series of events aims to accelerate the creation of employment opportunities, partnerships, knowledge sharing, showcasing creative products and services, and new businesses where economic competitiveness can thrive in Black communities.
C-Tribe is a platform for celebrating diversity and helping innovative and creative people achieve their dreams. As an organization that has been influenced at every level by various African and Indigenous tribes and nations, the organization will not remain silent during these challenging times.
“Despite all the uncertainty in the world right now and racial injustice being intertwined and on full display, it is important to celebrate Black culture and paint a picture of how it will positively influence society in the future”, says C-Tribe Founder and Chairperson Sahr Saffa.
“Racialized people are fighting for equality, equity, and liberation while privileged groups are building equity in our society. We see the disparities of a pre-meditated system and how it continuously works against underprivileged groups. We put our fists in the air and ask that you join us in calling “Black Lives Matter” with us through your art, your words, or your time,” says Saffa.
“We live in a time when social posts and likes are not enough. Today actual change will only be made by those who want to do the work” says Black Talent Initiative Founder, Mark Harrison.
“Magically as hard as a result is, the journey is full of rewards. The roadmap may get fuzzy at times, but the compass never waivers. Today it points North to Edmonton where the C-Afrofuturism Conference will be a chance for companies large and small to create magic, opportunity, and history” says Mark.
The organization is also the lead contributor to the C-Tribe Festival: a 5-day annual event that curates a series of main stage talks, creative showcases, and live performances geared toward acting as a catalyst for collisions and for change in underestimated regions.
